The exam

What is Matura?

Matura is the Matura (secondary school leaving examination), a school leaving exam (Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and other Central European countries). Formats differ by country but share a common shape: compulsory written papers in the national language, mathematics and a foreign language, extended-level papers in chosen subjects for university admission, and oral examinations in languages. Poland's examination is centrally set and marked; Austria's uses standardised written tasks with school-based oral and a pre-scientific paper. Universities commonly admit on the basis of extended-level results in subjects relevant to the degree.

Who takes it: Students finishing secondary school across Central and Eastern Europe, where the examination certifies secondary completion and is used for university admission.

What it tests

Matura subjects and sections

  • National language
  • Mathematics
  • Foreign language
  • Sciences
  • History
  • Geography
  • Oral examinations

Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.

How to prepare

Studying for Matura, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Decide early which extended-level subjects your target degree needs, because those papers carry the admission weight in most countries.

  2. 02

    Practise

Mathematics at the basic level is often the stumbling block; drill the standard task types from official sample sets until they are routine.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

For the oral examinations, prepare and rehearse speaking on set topics; examiners reward fluency and structure as much as content.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Tests for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions Matura students ask

  • Explain probability questions for the extended mathematics paper.
  • Teach me how to analyse a literary text for the Polish oral.
  • How do I write a formal letter for the English matura?

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for Matura?

Yes. Ask any topic from the Matura syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Decide early which extended-level subjects your target degree needs, because those papers carry the admission weight in most countries.

Can I use my own Matura past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. The Tests section adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.

Does it teach in the language I study Matura in?

LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including Polish, German and English) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
