The exam
What is GMAT?
GMAT is the Graduate Management Admission Test, a postgraduate entrance exam (Worldwide). A computer-adaptive test delivered at centres or online, with three equally weighted sections that can be taken in any order. Quantitative Reasoning covers arithmetic and algebra problem solving without a calculator; Verbal Reasoning covers reading comprehension and critical reasoning; Data Insights combines data sufficiency, multi-source reasoning, tables, graphs and two-part analysis with an on-screen calculator. Candidates may review and change a limited number of answers per section.
Who takes it: Applicants to MBA and other graduate management programmes at business schools around the world who need a standardised admissions score.

How to prepare
Studying for GMAT, step by step
01
Prioritise
Data sufficiency rewards knowing when you have enough information, not solving; practise stopping as soon as sufficiency is decided.
02
Practise
Critical reasoning questions reward identifying the argument's conclusion and its assumption before reading the answer choices.
03
Avoid the traps
Because the test adapts, avoid spending too long on an early question; a wrong answer is cheaper than running out of time later.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Tests for graded tests.
