The subject

What is Languages & Literature?

Languages & Literature covers how languages work and how writers use them: grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking, together with poetry, prose and drama and the craft of analysing them. Studying it means learning rules and patterns, reading closely, writing essays and creative pieces, and discussing meaning, style and context. It develops the skills every other subject depends on: understanding what you read and saying what you mean.

Where it is studied: Every school year on every board, senior secondary literature courses, undergraduate language and literature degrees and language proficiency tests.

Why pictures

Why Languages & Literature is taught visually

Language has structure you can draw: sentence trees, tense timelines, word families branching from a root, a sonnet's rhyme scheme mapped line by line, a plot arc, a character relationship web. Seeing the rhyme scheme drawn beside the poem shows what makes a sonnet a sonnet.

The tutor draws the picture as it speaks, one idea at a time, and answers your doubt on the same picture when you interrupt.

Exams and curricula

Languages & Literature for every exam

Each lesson is pitched to the curriculum you follow, and you can upload past papers so the practice matches the exam.

Ask it anything

Questions learners ask in Languages & Literature

  • How do I tell a metaphor from a simile in a poem?
  • When do I use the past perfect instead of the simple past?
  • What is the narrator doing in the opening of this novel?

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can an AI teacher help with a poem or passage I was assigned?

Yes. Upload the text and the tutor reads it with you, marking structure, imagery and tone on the board as it explains. Ask about any line and it answers there, then asks a checkpoint question so you practise forming your own reading.

Can it explain grammar in my own language?

The tutor plans and explains in the language you choose, so you can learn English grammar with explanations in Hindi, Tamil, Spanish or another language you think in. Drawn timelines and tables make tenses and agreement easier to see.

Does it help with essay writing?

It teaches essay structure by mapping your argument on the board: thesis, supporting points, evidence and conclusion. You can ask for a different structure, then use the Tests section's AI-made tests to practise comprehension and grammar between writing sessions.
