Prepare for JLPT with a visual teacher

Japanese-Language Proficiency Test: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.

The exam

What is JLPT?

JLPT is the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test, a language proficiency exam (Japan and test centres worldwide). Offered at five levels from N5 for beginners to N1 for advanced learners, administered by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services. All questions are multiple-choice, covering language knowledge in vocabulary and grammar, reading comprehension, and listening; there is no speaking or writing component. Each level has sectional minimum requirements as well as an overall requirement. Higher levels emphasise kanji, nuance and long passages.

Who takes it: Learners of Japanese worldwide who want certified proficiency for study, work or visa purposes in Japan, from beginners to advanced readers.

What it tests

JLPT subjects and sections

  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Listening

Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.

How to prepare

Studying for JLPT, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Kanji and vocabulary are the bottleneck at every level; learn them in context with example sentences and review daily with spaced repetition.

  2. 02

    Practise

Listening has its own minimum requirement, so train with native-speed audio early rather than leaving it to the last month.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

Grammar points are tested through subtle differences in nuance; study near-synonyms together and practise choosing between them in sentences.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Tests for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions JLPT students ask

  • Explain the difference between wa and ga with examples.
  • Teach me N3 grammar patterns for expressing intention.
  • How do I read long passages faster for N2?

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for JLPT?

Yes. Ask any topic from the JLPT syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Kanji and vocabulary are the bottleneck at every level; learn them in context with example sentences and review daily with spaced repetition.

Can I use my own JLPT past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. The Tests section adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.

Does it teach in the language I study JLPT in?

LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Japanese, Mandarin and Vietnamese) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
