Prepare for IELTS with a visual teacher

International English Language Testing System: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.

The exam

What is IELTS?

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, a language proficiency exam (Worldwide). Offered in Academic and General Training versions, on paper or computer, with a speaking test conducted face to face or by video with a trained examiner. Listening and reading use a range of question types including matching, completion and multiple choice. Writing has a data or letter task and an essay. Results are reported as band scores for each skill and overall, and institutions set their own requirements.

Who takes it: People who need to prove English ability for university admission, professional registration or migration, mainly to the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

What it tests

IELTS subjects and sections

  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking

Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.

How to prepare

Studying for IELTS, step by step

  1. 01

    Prioritise

Writing Task 2 is marked on task response, coherence, vocabulary and grammar equally, so address every part of the question before polishing language.

  2. 02

    Practise

Band descriptors for speaking are public; record yourself and check fluency, range and pronunciation against them rather than guessing.

  3. 03

    Avoid the traps

Reading rewards spelling and exact transfer of answers, so practise copying words precisely from the passage under time pressure.

  4. 04

    Ask, then watch

Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.

  5. 05

    Interrupt and check

Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.

  6. 06

    Your papers

Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Tests for graded tests.

Ask it anything

Questions IELTS students ask

  • How do I describe a line graph for Writing Task 1?
  • Teach me how to extend speaking answers in Part 3.
  • Explain matching headings strategy for the reading test.

Questions

Asked, Answered

Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for IELTS?

Yes. Ask any topic from the IELTS syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Writing Task 2 is marked on task response, coherence, vocabulary and grammar equally, so address every part of the question before polishing language.

Can I use my own IELTS past papers and notes?

Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. The Tests section adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.
