Prepare for IPhO with a visual teacher
International Physics Olympiad: every topic on the syllabus, explained out loud with live visuals by a 1:1 AI teacher that stops when you interrupt and checks you got it.
The exam
What is IPhO?
IPhO is the International Physics Olympiad, an olympiad exam (Worldwide). An annual competition with a theoretical examination of several long multi-part problems and an experimental examination in which contestants perform measurements and analyse data. Problems extend school physics with calculus-based reasoning and often model real research situations. Grading rewards correct physical modelling, clear derivations and error analysis. National selection typically runs through stages such as India's NSEP and INPhO with an orientation camp, or the United States' F=ma and USAPhO.
Who takes it: Secondary school students selected through national physics olympiads, who compete in demanding theoretical and experimental physics problems against peers worldwide.
What it tests
IPhO subjects and sections
- Mechanics
- Electromagnetism
- Thermodynamics
- Optics
- Modern physics
- Experimental physics
Ask any topic from any of these and the tutor pitches the lesson to the exam, with the terms and the depth it expects.
How to prepare
Studying for IPhO, step by step
01
Prioritise
Theory problems reward building a physical model from scratch, so practise long problems that require assumptions, approximations and dimensional checks.
02
Practise
Experimental skills cannot be learned from books alone; practise taking measurements, plotting data and estimating uncertainties with real equipment.
03
Avoid the traps
Work through previous olympiad papers and their official solutions, focusing on how solutions are structured rather than only the final results.
04
Ask, then watch
Type or say a topic in your own words; the tutor plans a storyboard, one picture per idea, and explains it step by step.
05
Interrupt and check
Say "wait, why?" mid-explanation and it answers on the picture; a checkpoint question ends every lesson.
06
Your papers
Upload past papers and notes so the practice follows the exam, and use Tests for graded tests.
Ask it anything
Questions IPhO students ask
- Explain rigid body rotation with a rolling cylinder problem.
- Teach me how to estimate uncertainties in an experiment.
- How do I approach a thermodynamics cycle problem rigorously?

Questions
Asked, Answered
Can LetMeTeach help me prepare for IPhO?
Yes. Ask any topic from the IPhO syllabus and the tutor plans a lesson pitched to the exam, explains it out loud with live visuals, stops when you interrupt, and asks a checkpoint question. Theory problems reward building a physical model from scratch, so practise long problems that require assumptions, approximations and dimensional checks.
Can I use my own IPhO past papers and notes?
Yes. Upload PDFs and images, such as photos of class notes or a past paper, up to 3 files per session and 10 MB each, and the tutor grounds the session in them. The Tests section adds tests from a question bank and AI tests, graded on the server.
Does it teach in the language I study IPhO in?
LetMeTeach teaches in 26 languages (including English, Hindi, Mandarin and Russian) and plans the lesson in the language you choose rather than translating it. The Free plan includes 7 hours a month with no card.
